Kettle's Yard is a place which to me is the perfect marriage of art and design. And whilst there were a lot of spots to choose from there was something quite captivating about the dappled light and the patterned shadows and the the interesting angles and levels all packed in this one little corner. In terms of approaching the style of this drawing it was about expressing and emphasising what I like about the scene, so the piece had to be focused on light, texture and structure, I wanted it to be peaceful and also it was important to me that it still needed to be contemporary and have some little Fuji twists.
