Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich's barcelona pavilion is a building I've been drawn to for a long time, it's a minimalist piece of art and design and i love how the clean structure really allows the stone to sing. I wanted to reflect those ideas in the drawing and so whilst structurally the drawing is quite minimal and less busy, the marble has lots of detail and very organic. Again a theme in this as with works such as fallingwater or nakaniwa, is the celebration of the relationship between man-made and nature and how their contrasts can work well together.
There's also a subtle application of a silver toned metal leaf, its hidden amongst the grays but catches the light and has been used to highlight the patterns in the piece.
